Or even, "GIRL, you look like a dork. the tag of your shirt's been hanging out ever since we got here," as my sister in law has been known to tell me.
...Before SHE, TOO, is sweet and caring enough to flip it back down under my collar...
For some reason, I find it endearing and comforting when people fix those little types of things for me, when I'm complete unaware of the situation. Someone's watching out for me, they've got their eye on me, and they care enough to NOT WANT TO SEE ME looking "like a dork" with my clothes all disheveled. At least, some of them don't want to see me looking like that for LONG, anyway.
But this isn't REALLY the kind of tag this blog post is about, I just started thinking about the general term "tags" and this is where it lead to. And made me realize this other level of care among people. I LOVE it!
But anyway, on to the "tag" I'm REALLY wanting to talk about. ;)
Dee, over at Don't Be Shy, a new blog I've been reading lately, has tagged me to list 8 random things about myself, and then tag 8 other bloggers to do the same. I LOVE stuff like this!! Thanks, Dee! :) So here goes:
1. I BADLY want some kittens, and we'll get some later this year, but I'm having to work hard at getting over the fact that they will eventually die, as it STILL hurts me that my beloved Dhonn died this past December at only ten years old, from cancer.
2. When I watch movies and tv shows, I play games with them in my head, to see with which classical Literature theme I can connect with the plot. Sometimes, though, I have to make myself stop analyzing the actions of the characters, because I can't keep focused on the plot, to play the game. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature, with a minor in Psychology, and I usually OVER ANALYZE EVERYTHING.
3. It's a hard adjustment being over here without my family, and not getting to see The Mother like EVERY day, or kiss The Star when I want to. I make more humor out of it for my blog, than I can remember to put into it in real life. I REALLY NEED to work on that.
4. I've been greatly improving in confidence with my knitting, and when I finish the current huge, nubby scarf I'm making (to go with my big fuzzy sheepskin hat and fake fur coat) I'm going to start on a sweater with skulls and crossbones on the sleeves, from the patterns in the first Stitch N Bitch book.
5. I'm starting driving lessons today.
6. My only friend here so far (who's not an in-law) is another US lady who also moved here because she married a British guy. She's from Texas. She gives me strength to be here and get adjusted, but I don't think she even knows she's doing it.
7. My UK "dream car" is a Mini with a Union Jack on top, painted like the General Lee on the body. With the General Lee horn, too. I'm TOTALLY going to have it!!
8. I miss my old I.T. job at the non-profit in Augusta; I LOVED building and fixing computers EVERY DAY!! Not to mention being the ONLY tech girl in the WHOLE department.
And now to tag the bloggers, in no particular order:
1. MadameX
2. Mari
3. Heather
4. Theresa111
5. Bex
6. Bets
7. The Goddess (Although I waited too long to post this, and someone else beat me to it, darn it! However, you can read her answers to this same meme here.)
Bloggers 4 - 8 I don't know personally, but I'd LOVE to know more ABOUT them, therefore, that's why I've listed them, in hopes they might actually see this post. :)
ATTENTION: I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE to Dee, because she'd let me know about tagging me WAY back, now, but due to issues coming up around here, and honestly NOT having 8 other bloggers I could tag, I wrote this post, but left 4 of the last 5 tag spot open. I'm just TODAY finishing it up, because it's been bugging me that I messaged Dee I'd finish it probably that evening, but never did! I'm SO BAD at hiding from things I need to get done, sometimes, when I don't know how I'm going to finish them! :( Dee, I'm SO SORRY. Please forgive me for being such a dolt.. I guess one of my eight things mentioned should have been that I can go CRAZY NUTSO if I happen to NOT get done what I SAY I'll do. Believe me, it makes for crazy times, combining THAT habit, PLUS the hiding from things I need to get done, when I can't figure out how to do them. SIGH, I'm a whole party by myself, sometimes, I TELL ya..
You mean a mini with the Confederate flag on it right? :p :D
Hahaha, David's trying to get me to go with the confederate flag, too, but
I thought it'd make a nice "fusion" of what I'm doing here, to have the US
paint job, on the UK car, with the UK flag. Maybe I COULD kick it up a
notch, and go with the "stars and bars"? The last thing I'd want to do is
offend anyone, though. But then again, the ONLY thing the confederate flag
stands for here, is "Southern Fried Chicken" which you can find at ANY take
away shop ANYWHERE, OR southern fried chicken Pot Noodles, which DO NOT
taste very "southern fried" at all, but sure do sport the confederate flag
all over the container and the season mix packet.. ;)
Oooh, I love being tagged! It'll have to wait a little, though, as my next
post will be number 3000, and I want it to be something Big and Super
Awesome. (I have no idea WHAT, though.)
Hey, EXTRAORDINARY! Don't forget about the associate degree in Early
Childhood Education. You and I BOTH worked as hard for that one as we did
for the batchelor's degree! The associate is just as important. Luv Ya,
The Mother
